Cedar Dovetail Log Home - Austria
From the great room of their dovetail log home, our clients will enjoy a view of Dachstein Mountain in Ramsau, Austria. Large windows bring abundant light into the 180 square meter (1,937 sq ft) home with three bedrooms and an office. Cathedral ceilings featuring exposed rafters create a spacious living environment. A basement apartment below is a great space for hosting guests.
DaRon Construction designed the home and selected building materials to reduce energy consumption and create a healthier living environment. For example, the walls are built from 40 centimeter (15.75 inches) thick Western Red Cedar logs to achieve a U value of .25. Triple pane glass windows will achieve a U value of .5. Also, a verandah protects the south side of the house from south facing sun. Our client will also enjoy low cost geo thermal heating. For better air quality, cedar ceiling panels and the interior walls will be left unfinished.
We incorporated a post and beam system into the walls of this house to eliminate the need to adjust settling jacks as the wood walls shrink.
Please check back every 2 or 3 weeks as Hideto Kaneko, our project lead completes this project. Please contact us if you wish to tour this dovetail log home.
