Dovetail Log Structure - Italy
In 2009, the area of L' Aquila in Italy experienced a 6.3 earthquake. Reconstruction has begun in small towns throughout the area. This cedar log structure located in Barisciano is part of the City's rebuilding efforts. The wood and metal anchoring systems shown in the photos are designed to withstand future earthquakes. This structure does not show traditional dovetail corners. Instead we used a post and beam system to pull flat log walls together.
