Cedar Timber Frame Home with Hand Hewn Look

This one was an interesting timber frame construction project for us. We used a round-bottomed power planer with specially shaped blades to create a “hand hewn” look on these Western Red Cedar timbers. I’ll bet those guys who used to hew railway ties with a broad axe would be surprised to find that their skills are still in demand. We were forced to use more modern methods…but the resulting look is one that reminds us of days gone by.
